Alan John Meinershagen, 80, Duluth, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Bayshore Health Center. Alan was born Oct. 19, 1931, in Marquette, Michigan, the son of John and Valeria (Verville) Meinershagen. He graduated from Superior Central High School, Superior, Wis., in 1949. Following high school, he moved with his family to rural Duluth where he began his farming career. He also worked part-time as a rural mail carrier and at the Peavey Feed Store. He continued farming until six years ago when he went into the nursing home. He was preceded in death by his parents and one niece. Alan is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and LeRoy McKibbon of Mt. Iron, Minn.; three nieces, Cheryl Ferrian, Carol (Bob) Greene, and LeeAnn (Jeff) Nelson; five nephews, Thomas (Susan) McKibbon, Timothy (Trish) McKibbon, Richard (Stacey) McKibbon, Ronald McKibbon, and Gregory (Suzanne) McKibbon, and 18 great nieces and nephews. VISITATION: 10 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012 until the 11 a.m. funeral service in Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 East Second Street, Duluth. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Duluth.
