Allan Richard Lian

Allan Richard Lian, 71, of Duluth, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023.  He was born in Duluth on July 3, 1952, to Bertel and Marion Lian.

Al, affectionately known as “Blue” to his sons, was a Duluth East High School graduate and attended UMD. He worked at the former Montgomery Wards department store, both downtown and at the Miller Hill Mall, retiring in November of 2015 from Minnesota Power after many years of service. Al was an avid Vikings fan bleeding purple every single NFL season. In addition to being a Vikings fan he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. But, most importantly he was a wonderful husband, father, and papa, and took great pride in his family’s accomplishments and successes in life. 

Allan is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jan; children, Melissa “Yaya” (Brian) Lehr, Allan Jr; Andrew (Emily); grandchildren, Conner, Grady and Easton Lehr, Harper, Jazlyn, Silas and Beckham Lian; sister, Barb (Mike) McGregor; and other family and friends.

Memorial Service will be 2PM, December 13, 2023, with visitation one hour prior at the Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2^nd Street, Duluth, MN 55805, The family would also like to invite everyone to a celebration of life gathering following the service at the home of Jan and Al.
