Amanda Feiro

January 2, 1922 — April 18, 2015

Amanda Belle (Daniels) Feiro, 93, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2015. Amanda (Mandy) was born on January 2, 1922 in Duluth, the oldest of 4 children to Treffle and Anna Belle Daniels.

Mandy attended and graduated from St. Jeans School in the West End. She also attended the College of St. Scholastica for a period of time. A devout, Catholic, she was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Parish and in the later years, St. Michaels in Lakeside. She began working for Bell Telephone Company as an information operator in 1938 at the age of 16 until she retired in 1984. She met George Earl Feiro through a coworker (her future sister-in-law Phyllis) and they were married on June 25, 1949. George and Mandy had 5 children: Sandy (Bob) Schwalbe, Loveland, CO; Tom (Kim) Feiro, Crookston, MN; Dan (Lynn) Feiro, Cloquet, MN; Mary Beth (Robbie) Boyer, Longmont, CO; Kevin Feiro, Superior, WI. Mandy worked split shifts most of her career so there was always a parent home with the children. When asked if she could have changed anything in her life she replied, "I would do it all over in a heartbeat, it was great to raise my family with George." Large family gatherings with all the grandmas, aunties, uncles, and cousins on weekends and holidays were important to her. She was a very humble, faithful volunteer in the early years of Meals on Wheels, as well as serving meals at the Damiono Center once a week, and was a long-time member of the Telephone Company Pioneers of America. Her beloved husband George passed away unexpectedly at the age of 55 in November 1977. Amanda continued to live on her own in her house until 2013 when failing health necessitated her move to assisted living.

Amanda was preceded in death by her parents and husband George, as well as numerous brother/sister-in-laws.

She is survived by daughters, Sandy (Bob) and Mary Beth (Robbie), sons Tom (Kim), Dan (Lynn) and Kevin, and special family friend Shawne Sass; grandchildren, Zachary Schwalbe, Christine and Benjamin Feiro, Sherida and Candace Feiro, Jacob, Jonathan and Meghan Brunscheen; great grandchildren, Alida, Solvey and Soren Feiro, Santiago Feiro, and Lauren, Henna and Morgan Brunscheen; sisters, Mae Sheehy, St. Louis Park, MN; Harriette Sundquist, Edgewater, MD; brother, Treffle Daniels, Minnetonka MN; sister-in-laws, Janet Wieveg Dolores Feiro, and Joanne Daniels; as well as many special nieces and nephews.
