Ann Prescott

October 7, 1920 — September 21, 2017

Ann E. Prescott, age 96, formerly of Duluth and St. Simons Island, GA passed away on September 21, 2017 in Excelsior, MN.  She was born in Valley City, ND on October 7th, 1920 to Nicholaus and Emma (Boness) Eshpeter and grew up in Oriska, ND, before settling in Duluth. She attended Stanbrook Hall, earned her pilots license, graduated from the Duluth Business College, and worked at the Veterans Administration during WW II.  Ann met the love of her life, Robert Prescott, a native Duluthian, and they were married in San Luis Obispo, CA in 1943. They spent their wedding night dancing under the stars to the Tommy Dorsey Band before Bob shipped out the next morning to fight in the European Theater during WW II.  Ann and Bob settled in Duluth after the war where Ann was an active member of the Duluth Woman's Club, St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary and Northland Country Club.  For many years she was a leader for the Camp Fire Girls.She was an accomplished Bridge player, seamstress, fabulous cook, downhill skier, golfer and avid horsewoman.  Ann loved any dog that crossed her path. During her many years of showing Quarter Horses she competed and won the coveted award of Reserve World Champion with her horse Hints Splash.  Ann had many loves. Her family, the cabin on Hart Lake, dogs and horses, Dixieland jazz, traveling, Austria, and buying shoes.......and she was loved in return.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Robert K. (Bob) Prescott, an infant daughter and siblings, Lucy, Erma, Harvey, Larry, Alvin, Earl and Albert. She is survived by her children, Carole Stoffregen (Bob) Moraga, CA, Diane Moyer (Thomas) Minneapolis, MN and Michelle Prescott-Guderian (Tim) Cambridge, MN and grandchildren, Nicholas Stoffregen (Melissa), Nathan Stoffregen (Monica), Matthew Stoffregen (Michelle), Morgan Stoffregen (Kenny), R. Max Stoffregen, Michael Moyer (Michelle), Peter Moyer (Shanna Hanson), Thomas Moyer, Brenna Harrower, and great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kyle, Addison, Carey, Clara, Chloe, Molly and Alexandra. The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the Beehive Homes of Excelsior and Brighton Hospice of St. Louis Park for their compassionate care. Memorial Service:   Family and friends may gather on Saturday, September 30th from 12 noon until the 1 PM memorial service at Dougherty Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to Animal Allies Humane Society of Duluth or The Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra.
