Arvid Palmer Slotness, 89, of Duluth died Thursday, December 20, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Arvid was born September 11, 1929 in Duluth to Bernard and Inga Slotness. He graduated from Duluth Central and receive his BA from UMD in 1953. Arvid served in the US Navy during the Korean War, as a LTJG on the Destroyer Hopewell. He met Delores Gustafson and they were married in Hibbing on May 4, 1963. Arvid retired from Cutler Magner as the Sales Manager after over 35 years of service.
He is a active member of First Lutheran Church; he enjoyed skiing, camping, hiking, biking, golfing and traveling, but most of all, Arvid loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Inga.
Arvid is survived by his wife, Delores; daughters, Kari (Chris) Torvi of St. Paul and Lynn (Eric) Odegard of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren, Hanna and Bjorn Torvi, E.J., Kylie Rogan and Sutton Odegard and his brother, Gordy (Darlene) Slotness.
Visitation will Wednesday, Dec. 26 th begining at 10am with services at 11am at First Lutheran church, 1100 E Superior St., Duluth, MN. Military honors accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard will follow.
