Barbara Biron

Barbara G. Biron, 84, of Duluth, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospice.

Barbara was born August 29, 1930 in Duluth to Simon and Olga (Flack) Giliuson. At the age of eight, she moved with her family to Santa Ana, CA. They returned to Duluth following World War II. Barbara married George B. Biron in Duluth on March 16, 1951. She worked for 14 years as secretary to the Dean of Women at Carleton College. Barbara was a homemaker and a member of Glen Avon Presbyterian Church. She was an avid walker, and loved to garden, knit, read, and listen to Mozart. She loved the outdoors, camping trips, and their cabin on Lake Superior.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Barbara is survived by her husband George; her children: Patsy Biron of Chicago, IL, Mark (Ann) and Mike (Lois), both of Duluth, and David of Cannon Falls, Minn; four grandchildren: Carey (Jess), Odin, Ian (Angie) and Tyler (Heidi) Biron; three great-grandchildren: Juniper, Luther and Evelyn Biron; and her sister Pat (Bob) Berg of San Diego, CA.; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at St. Luke's Hospital.

Friends may gather Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 11AM until the Noon memorial service at Dougherty Funeral Home. Memorials directed to St. Luke's Foundation, Cancer Care Fund, 1000 E. First St., Duluth, MN. 55805 would be appreciated.
