Barbara Katherine (Jeanetta) Oman, 92, of Edgewood Vista, formerly of Chambersburg Ave., died on Monday, Aug. 12, 2013 in Essentia St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.
Barbara was born on Oct. 8, 1920 in Duluth to Vito and Clara (Wolffer) Jeanetta. She graduated from Central High School. Barbara married Lawrence "Larry" Oman in July of 1939 in Duluth.
Barbara was employed with the Duluth Public School working in Food Service for many years. She was a member of the All American Club, St. Lawrence, St. Joseph's Catholic Church's and its Mother's chorus. In her earlier days she was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and was active with the Duluth PTA Council at Grant, Washington Jr. High and Duluth Central Schools. Some of her hobbies included cooking, baking, reading and spending time at the cabin on Eagle Lake in Cromwell with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry in Feb. of 1993; her sons, Donald in Mar. of 1993; Robert "Bob" in Jan. of 2001; her brother, Frank Jeanetta; and her son in-law, Dave Udd in Feb. of 2010.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Udd of Duluth; her sons, Frank (Pam) Oman of Belton, TX; David (Sherri) Oman of Duluth; 15 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday Aug. 16, 2013 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 151 W. Linden St., in Duluth Heights. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
