Barbara Tyacke

Barbara Louise (Johnson) Tyacke, 91, of Duluth, died Wednesday, March 27, 2019.  She was born November 25, 1927, the daughter of Sally and Clarence Johnson. She attended Chester Park, East Junior and graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1945 and from the College of St. Scholastica in 1949 with a degree in health information management. She was a member of Tri Arts Sorority. Barb was employed at St. Mary’s Essentia Hospital in Duluth and St. Andrews Hospital in Minneapolis as a health information professional.

She returned to Duluth and married Warren Tyacke on 1950.  They celebrated 65 eventful years together and raised 4 children. Barb served as a Cub Scout, Brownie Scout and Girl Scout leader for her children and their friends. She also worked many Central High School Reunions for her graduating class.

Barb was a long time member of Chester Park United Methodist Church where she also taught Sunday School for many years. She served on the United Methodist Women and its Rebekah Circle. She was presently a member of First Methodist Church.

Barb was a past member of the Duluth Women’s Club and American Association of University Women.

She travelled with Warren on several beautiful trips to Europe and Sweden, where she meet her relatives and became very proud of her Swedish heritage. In retirement she also enjoyed annual trips to Florida and Arizona and spent time with her friends and family there. Barb was an avid Bridge and 500 card game player with many different groups.

She loved her family and the many goods times spent with her friends. She was active in a walking club throughout her senior years.

She was proceeding in death by her parents, husband Warren, son Gary, daughter-in-law Linda Tyacke and daughter Kathy White. She is survived by her brother and sister in law Glenn and Darlene Johnson of Duluth, son Steven of Wayzata, MN, son in law Trevor White, daughter Jennifer and son in law Joe Dansby, of Eagan, MN, many nieces and nephews, 7 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

Barb also expressed special thanks to her caregivers at Keystone Bluffs, and to Darlene Johnson, Tammy Nelson and Peggy Simensen.

VISITATION will be held with the family on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. FUNERAL SERVICE at First United Methodist Church in Duluth, Minnesota.

Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, Scottish Rite Language Disorder Clinic, or the College of St. Scholastica health information scholarship fund.
