Barbara Josephine Leona Wojtesky Arnold of Duluth passed away peacefully with her family by her side Wedneday, Decembr 20, 2017. Barbara (Barb) graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1951. Over the years she enjoyed being involved with all the class reunions. Barb spent many hours sailing and exploring all the aspects of Lake Superior's beauty. She was an original member of the Duluth Keel Club. During the 1977 Trans-Superior sailboat race she was co-skipper of the "First All Women's Crew". One of Barb's loves was starting Sir Benedict's Tavern on the Lake in 1976 along with her husband. She was the face of the restaurant for many years. In the early years there would be lines out the door at lunch and she would greet all with a big smile. Barb loved her time on her deck surrounded by the sound and wind of Lake Superior and her beautiful geraniums, petunias, and impatiens in her deck gardens. You could often find her in the early morning pruning her plants in her nightgown. Barb enjoyed many trips in their RV with her husband and family to the mountains to ski and to the Florida area to visit friends and to sail. Barb enjoyed summer rides in their restored 1961 TR3 driven by her loving husband. She was often called Elizabeth Taylor during these rides which she absolutely emblished. Barb had a wonderful personality and enjoyed meeting and learning about all others around her. Barb had unconditional love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Barb is survived by her loving husband John B Arnold III (Jack), children Jeffrey Arnold (Kimberly), Jody Arnold Meyer (Todd), Jennifer Townsend (Steven); grandchildren Zachary and Cale Arnold, Morgan (Tylor) Castone, Hattie and Clo Meyer, and Spencer and Reese Townsend. Great grandchildren Melieha, Justis and Kadence; niece Nicolette Tonious, faithfull rescue dog Clyde and many family and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Kleinschmidt and the staff of St. Lukes Hospital. Special thanks to Roger and Jessie Talbot for their help and support. Service will be held at Lake Superior Interfaith Church at 1414 E 9th St, Duluth, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27. Visitation after service will be held at the church.
