Beatrice Mae Bassi

Beatrice “Bea” Mae Bassi died March 23, 2024, in her home in Rochester, MN. She was born in Duluth, MN to Walter and Ella Christen. After high school, she worked at Park State Bank in Duluth, retiring in 1987. Bea married Alfred Bassi on July 18, 1953. They made their home in Duluth until 2003, when they moved to Rochester. Bea enjoyed a good game of cribbage, puzzling, square dancing, and most of all spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Della, brother Walter, brother-in-law Gerald, and sister-in-law Jackie.

Bea is survived by her daughter Elaine (Richard) Hettwer of Rochester, her son David (Kris) of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Gina (Matt), Travis, Jereme, and Christopher; step grandchildren Hilary (Sam) and Jesse; great-grandchildren Cayden and Payton; step great-grandchildren Daxton and Adaline; brother Robert, sister-in-law Janet and several nieces and nephews. 

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of The Homestead of Rochester Memory Care, Seasons Hospice of Rochester, and Olmsted Medical Center’s Active Aging Services for the care provided to Bea with such compassion and kindness.

Per Bea’s wishes, a private service is being held. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Oneota Cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home of Duluth, MN.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bea can be made to Seasons Hospice in Rochester, MN.
