Betty Clarke

Betty Ward Clarke, 87, of Duluth, died Friday, March 4, 2016, at Solvary Hospice House with her family by her side. Betty was born April 29, 1928 in Superior, WI to George and Nell Ward. She graduated from Downers Grove High School and Northwestern University in Oxford, OH. She married Eric K. Clarke Jr on May 25, 1951. Betty had her own dog grooming shop and also had worked for Jeno's. She was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church, the Duluth Kennel Club, Duluth Saddle Club and was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. She loved golfing, her dogs and spending time with her family, she will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nell, her brother George and her husband, Eric in 1975.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Susan (Yougi) Mahonen, Diana (Robert) Carter, Sara Hardy and Laura (Jeff) Stuermer; grandchildren, David (Tina) Johnson, Jennifer (Jim) Huyck, John (Krysta) Mahonen, Ari (Melanie) Mahonen, Alison (Steve) Brown, Jason Carter, Erica Priscilla Crissinger, Nikee (Greg) Crissinger, Amanda Spohn, Heather (John) Schulties, Alicia (Chris) Hardy-Estrada, Shaun (Lena) Hardy, Tim (Rhoda) Stuermer; 27 great grandchildren, twin sister, Mary Palmquist and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-7pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Saturday from 11am to the 12 noon services at Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 4430 McCulloch St. Duluth, MN. Burial at Forest Hill Cemetery, Memorials are preferred and may be directed to Lakeside Presbyterian church or the donor's choice.
