Betty Sue Disch passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on May 22, 2024.
Betty Sue was born in Duluth on September 19, 1933 to Ezra and Helene Luhm. She attended Duluth Central High School where she met Lloyd Disch, the start of a love story that lasted for decades. They married in 1953 and raised three children, and were always planning for the next big adventure, like building their seasonal cabin at Island Lake (and converting it to their home some years later), traveling the world, becoming snowbirds in Naples, FL, and generally being the life of every party. She took great pride in her career, from working with special needs children at a local school to managing the Gold & Silver Mine jewelry store in Fitgers. She loved to dance, sing, and play the piano, and was a gifted painter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd in 2016, and beloved daughter Susie in 2021.
She is survived by brother Bill (Doris) Luhm; children Steve (Sherrie) Disch and Sally (Brett) Engen; grandchildren Marie (Dean) Hensel, Carrie (Ben) Kelley, Casey Stelman, Amanda (Matt) Stephenson, Nina (Josh) Hyuck, and Jacob Disch; great-grandchildren Cooper, Carter, and Elise Hensel, and Emerson and Arlo Stephenson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Betty Sue lived a life full of love and laughter; she will be greatly missed by her vast network of friends and family across the country.
The family would like to thank the amazing teams at Edgewood Vista and CaringEdge Hospice who supported her with kindness and compassion through her journey.
