Beverly Frances Anderson

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025 at the age of 91. Bev was born August 13, 1933 to J.R. “Rick” and Ruth Wilson Carlson. Bev was a lifelong member of Glen Avon Church. She graduated from Duluth East HS in 1952 and DBU in 1953. She joined Oliver Mining Company as a clerk in 1953 and was employed there until 1959.

Bev was an avid sports fan, with her two favorite sports being curling and golf. She met her husband, Jim at the old curling club on London Road in 1955 and they were married on September 29, 1956. A marriage filled with love, travel, sports and 3 children.

Bev travelled all over the world, her favorite destination being Siesta Key Beach in Florida. Bev was an avid curler, winning many Bonspiels in both women’s and mixed events with her husband, Jim. The highlight of her curling career came in 1995 when she lead a team from Duluth and captured the US Senior Women’s Championship in Albany, NY.

Bev had a close-knit group of friends that would regularly get together from some Bridge or a round of golf. She was always ready and willing to do anything.

In the early 1970’s Bev began her career at UMD, working at the Kirby Student Center, which culminated in her being named Employee of the Year at the University. Bev retired in 1998 after more than 20 years of service.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara Johnson; niece, Sally; nephew, Mike; and three brothers-in-law. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Jim; children, Tom (Kim), Stephen (Beth), Susan Anderson; granddaughter, Madison Anderson; sister, Joan Sjogren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Beverly will be dearly missed by all, and heaven has gained another angel.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Glen Avon Presbyterian Church, 2105 Woodland Avenue, Duluth with a Visitation beginning at 10:00am.
