Blanche Moen

April 23, 1915 — October 6, 2016

Blanche Eileen Moen, 101, of Proctor, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, in Franciscan Health Center.

Blanche was born in Kenyon, Minn., to Charles and Alice (Vogel) Harris April 23, 1915. She was a 1933 graduate of Proctor High School. Blanche married Henry "Hank" Peterson in 1935. She married Lawrence W. Moen July 27, 1950, in Hibbing. She worked as a waitress at the Glass Block Coffee Shop and in food service at Nopeming Nursing Home until she retired in 1978.

Blanche was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a past member of Ruth Church Circle, Proctor Golden Age, Hillside Drop-In Center, Bayview Garden Club and the Senior Retired Volunteer Program. She volunteered at the Proctor Food Shelf and had been a member of TOPS Club since 1979. Blanche was the recipient of the Oldest Living Rail Award at the Proctor All-Class reunion in 2012.

Blanche very much enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Be at home or the cabin, she loved having family around. In her later years that is what she missed the most.

She touched many lives over her 101 years and received a lot of love in return. She will always be remembered for her kindness and her beautiful smile.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Henry Peterson in 1962; husband Larry Moen in 1999; brothers Minton (Mary), Charles and Fred Harris; sisters Elaine Johnson, Emma Stark, Rose White and Marian Spranger; and daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis "Flee" and Jim Lent.
