Brandon Scott Gooley was born on March 8, 1984, to the proud parents of George L. Gooley and Lynette Gooley. Brandon weighed 10 lbs, 3.5 ounces at birth and the doctor, jokingly, in the delivery room asked if what are you going to name him, "Bruiser."
Brandon began playing sports at 5 years old on the basketball team at St. Elizabeth Catholic School. He also played baseball at the neighborhood park district and played basketball and football while attending Lindbloom Technical High school. Brandon tested 2 years ahead of his grade year each year. His greatest accomplishment was just about to begin as he was registered in college here in Minnesota with classes beginning this month studying auto mechanics. He was so proud of being a college student and becoming a mechanic. Brandon worked for the public library, UPS, Fed X, Jewel Grocery Store, and a7 Refurbishing Delivery and Pickup Company., but he was finally on his way to making a career move and he felt so "BLESSED." Brandon as a small kid attended Haven of Rest Baptist Church, New Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church, and the Way of Truth Church. Brandon studied the Bible and was proud to say that he had read the complete Bible several times. Brandon was baptized here in Minnesota officially accepting GOD as his Lord and Savior.
Brandon aspired to be an entrepreneur early in life and his latest aspiration was to write a book to help others. Brandon loved music and he wanted to write music. Brandon was intelligent, humorous, and handsome. He was kind and his "spirit was genuine." Brandon loved his family and friends. Krissy was his "heart throb." He truly loved her and her family.
He was preceded in death by, 4 grandparents, Johnny Holloway, Willie Parks, Anna and Henry Gooley Sr.; 2 aunties, Shirley Calhoun and Marjorie Gooley; 5 uncles, John L. Holloway, Andre Holloway, Calvin Holloway, Henry Gooley Jr, and Charles Gooley.
Brandon leaves behind his loving mother, Lynette Gooley; father, George Gooley; 3 grandparents, Oletha Holloway (Parks); 5 aunties, Johnnie Mae, Peggy Terrell, Sandra Isom, and Agenna (Tony) Bailey all of Chicago, and Gwen (Roy) Brown of California; uncle, Calvin Gooley; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 23, at Dougherty Funeral Home in Duluth, Minn. Burial will be in Oneota Cemetery.
