Brian Duane Fuxa, age 58, of Duluth, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Enid, OK on February 9, 1955 to Stanley and Betty (Vap) Fuxa. While a student at the University of Minnesota, he met the love of his life. After graduation, he married Nadine (Magill) DeRosier on July 7, 1980 in Minneapolis where they lived until a warm Duluth day on Lake Superior drew them north in 1988. Brian worked in construction management, both private sector and non-profit. He ended his career as a Union Organizer for AFSCME. Brian was passionately political, writing regular columns for local newspapers, speaking in front of city council, and attending national rallies. He loved working on old cars, was a voracious reader, and loved baseball, fishing and nature. He is survived by his parents, Stan and Betty; his devoted wife Nadine; his daughter Anna (Adam) Eklund; his stepson Brandon (Laura) DeRosier; grandchildren Nathan, Nicholas and Madison DeRosier, and Jeremy and Natalie Eklund; his siblings: Max (Dawn), Neil, Karen (Pat) Jones, Nathan (Barbara) and Joe Fuxa; and many nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, March 30, 2013 from 10am until the 11am memorial service at Dougherty Funeral Home. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held later in April. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, 727-3555.
