Bruce John Yankowiak, 73, of Duluth, passed away on Tuesday March 15, 2022. He was born in Mora, MN on April 6, 1948, to Roland and Adeline Yankowiak. Bruce married Maggie Olson on August 21, 1981, in Fridley, MN. He retired from MnDOT as a Senior Land Surveyor. Bruce was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Gnesen, and the Knight’s of Columbus. He was a man of deep faith. He was a devoted volunteer with Essentia Hospice. Bruce enjoyed hunting and the comradery he shared at deer camp every fall, he loved to work outside on many different projects especially landscaping, gaining a feeling of great accomplishment in the completion of his hard work.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Steve, and an infant brother.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 40 years, Maggie; children, John, and Mark (Brandy Sutton); grandchildren, Ally and Caleb (their mother, Andrea Yankowiak); siblings, Greg (Deb), Doug (Randi), Karen (Steve) Roles, Mary Jo (Barry) Graber, Barb (Kevin) Herwig, Mike (Sue), and Tom (Kim); sister-in-law, Mary (John) Claseman; brother-in-law, Butch Olson and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Sunday March 20, 2022, from 2-4pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Gnesen. 6110 Church RD., Duluth, MN 55803. Visitation continues Monday March 21, 2022, from 10AM until the 11AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Hospice Care at Essentia Health, 407 E. 4th St. Duluth, MN 55805. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. 2nd St. Duluth, MN 55805. 218-727-3555.
