Bryce Alexander Crews, 22, of Hermantown, died Wednesday April 26, 2017. Bryce ended his battle with addiction and depression, by taking his own life, at the place he loved most, "The Cabin" in Embarrass. Bryce was born on July 9, 1994 in Duluth to Don and Sheila(Koecher) Crews. He was a confirmed member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Duluth. Bryce was a 2013 graduate from Hermantown High School. Bryce was employed by ABS Automotive/Extreme Auto in Hermantown, a place where he bought many wonderful low cost vehicles.
Bryce enjoyed fishing at the lake, riding 4-wheelers & motorcycles, working on cars and hanging out with friends, especially at Lake Effect Vapor. Bryce had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody. If you needed a ride, work done on your car or even a car to drive, he was the one you called. He will always be remembered for taking special care of his Grandmother that had Alzheimer’s and for being the absolute BEST Uncle and God-Father in the world to Shyla. His beautiful brown eyes and long eyelashes were the envy of many.
Bryce was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents, Everette and Jean Koecher of Kerrick, MN; and Paternal Grandfather, William Crews of Lake City, FL.
He is survived by his parents; paternal grandmother, Betty Crews of Lake City, FL; sister, Mara Crews of Hermantown; brother, Brad Crews (Debbie Anderson) of Everett, WA; nieces, Chloe Crews and Shyla Copeland; aunts & uncles, Michael and Karen Smith of Tallahassee, FL, Thomas and Angie Witt of Lake City, FL, Gayle and Dennis VanGuilder of Makinen, MN, Steven Koecher of Duquette, MN, Craig and Kim Koecher of Nickerson, MN; several cousins, including his God-Mother Heidi VanGuilder, who was most special to him and his God-Father Jason Koecher; Bryce is also survived by many friends.
Please remember to always hug your children and tell them that you love them because you never know when you won't have that chance anymore.
Visitation will be Friday May 5th from 5-7 pm at Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2nd St. Duluth. Visitation also from 10-11 am Saturday May 6th followed by the Funeral Service at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 9503 Grand Avenue, Duluth. Memorials to Union Gospel Mission or the Damiano Center are preferred. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home 218-727-3555.
