Cara Rosemary Monnier, 57, of Esko, passed away on Thursday October 26, 2017 in St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in Duluth on February 17, 1960 to Leroy and Zoe Wright. Cara graduated from Duluth Central High School. She retired from the U.S. Post Office as the Post Master of Carlton, MN. Cara was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and taught Sunday school there. She was very active with the Girl Scout’s and had been a “cookie mom”. Cara was a caregiver to her parents for many years, she loved going to the Little Falls Craft Fair, gardening and camping.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Patrick, Kerry and Joseph and a sister Troy Elaine Wright.
She is survived by her husband Roger, daughter Addie, siblings Mike (Jeanne) Wright, Danny Wright, Kelly Altman, and Kim Sajec, Mother-in-law Marlene Monnier and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A special thanks to all the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital, Dr. Homam Alkaied, Dr. Susan Kamper and all the wonderful nurses for their loving care of Cara, and to her co-patients, Julianne and Heather for their loving support.
Visitation will be held on Monday October 30, 2017 from 5PM to 7PM with a Rosary Recitation at 6:30PM in Dougherty Funeral Home. 600 E. 2nd St. Duluth, MN 55805. Visitation will continue Tuesday October 31, 2017 from 1PM until the 2PM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Rose Catholic Church. 3 6th Ave. East, Proctor, MN 55810. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery Duluth. Memorials are preferred and may be directed to her family for Addie’s education.
