Carl Lyle Nelson, 86 of Duluth, passed away on Wednesday November 1, 2017 at Chris Jensen Nursing Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Superior, WI on September 10, 1931 to Carl and Beatrice Nelson. Carl graduated from Denfeld High School and participated in the State High School Golf Tournament. He worked for the railroad Coopering cars for 17 years before going to work for the St. Louis County Highway Department as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Carl was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Duluth Gospel Tabernacle, where he was an Elder, Deacon, sang in the church choir, and taught Sunday School. Carl was an avid golfer participating in many tournaments over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Edna.
He is survived by his children Betty (Henry) Chruscielski and son Steven Nelson, grandchildren Matthew, Linnea, and Cassandra, brother Jim (Maryanna) Nelson, sister Rhoda Jensen, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday November 4, 2017 from 10AM until the 11AM Funeral Service in The Duluth Gospel Tabernacle. 1515 W. Superior St. Duluth, MN 55806.
