Carl Schamberg

Carl Simon Schaumberg, Jr, 88, of Duluth, died Sunday, January 24, 2016 at home. He was born in Proctor on October 22, 1927 to Pearl and Carl S. Schaumberg, Sr. Carl graduated from Hermantown High School. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Following the service he was employed by the DM & IR Railway. He married Thelma May Peterson on June 9, 1951 in Duluth. Carl enjoyed classic cars and trains.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Thelma, on October 31, 2015; his parents; his brother Charles Alan; and his sisters Caroline Klibe and Dorothy Bullyan.
Carl is survived by his children: Pat Leyes, Brian Schaumberg and Diane (Brian) Mesedahl; his grandchildren Christine Leyes and Krystal Howes; his great-grandson William Howes; and his sisters June and Pearl.
Visitation: 11 AM until the 12 noon funeral service on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Dougherty Funeral Home, followed by military honors accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard.
