Catherine Lund, 96, of Duluth, died Saturday, April 21st, 2018. She was the youngest of three children born to her parents Floretta (Bujold) and Harry Lund.
She was a graduate of Denfeld High School and began her lifetime career in banking at age 17 first delivering mail, later as a teller and ultimately "breaking the glass ceiling" as the first woman bank officer in Duluth. She began as an employee of First American Bank, then First National Bank and retired as an employee of Wells Fargo.
Cathy fully celebrated her life professionally, personally and as a contributing member of the Duluth Community. She completed studies at the American Institute of Banking. She loved classical music, doing needlepoint, knitting, cooking, entertaining and travel, especially cruises and visited 37 countries, Greece being her favorite.
Cathy served as a Board Member of the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra from 1972-1974, volunteered at Saint Michael's Catholic Church, the Gingerbread House and the Benedictine Health Center.
Cathy will be remembered for her engaging smile, her innate ability to make friends and family members feel special, her "Cathyisms", sense of humor and most of all for celebrating her life with dignity and gratefulness. She was a teacher by example and has left her handprint on the hearts of all privileged to love and be loved by her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert (Bob), sister Elizabeth (Betty), nephew, Robert (Bob), Jr. and special aunt Leora Bujold She is survived by nieces/nephews Cathy Ann (Steve) Moore, Natalie (Dan) Kommeth, John Lund, Michael Ryan, Michelle Ryan and numerous cousins.
Cathy's family wishes to thank the caregivers of ACCRA, the Beehive and North Country Housekeeping and Home Care Services for their compassionate respectful care of Cathy. Each and all added life to her years and she was beyond grateful.
VISITATION: Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 9AM until the 10AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 4901 E. Superior St. Inurnment will be at Oneota Cemetery. Memorials appreciated to Saint Michael's Catholic Church.
