Charlene Jean (Hauch) Ralph was born July 17, 1929 in Duluth, MN the oldest daughter of Clarence Carl and Idena Ruth (Pearson) Hauch died peacefully on Wednesday evening Nov. 12, 2014 at the age of 85. She grew up on Park Point with two younger siblings Colleen and Richard. She attended Park Point Elementary School, Washington Junior High School and graduated from Central High School in 1947. Following high school she continued to live on Park Point and worked in Duluth at Newberry's, City Bank, Sears Roebuck and Piedmont Plaza. She marched as a majorette with the Duluth Drum and Bugle Corp for many years. She met Charles Robert Ralph on a blind date. Char was about to break up with this extremely quiet man and then he spoke. They eloped to Virginia, MN and were married by a justice of the Peace on July 19, 1950. When they returned to their home on Park Point, her dad walked to the corner grocery store, picked up some lunch meat and fixings, called the neighbors and celebrated the marriage. She remained on Park point for the rest of her life. Charles and Charlene celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this past July. She will be remembered for her huge caring heart, her love for Park Point, and her joy in decorating for each and every holiday. She loved the warm Park Point sand between her toes. When once asked about spending her whole life on Park Point she said "I had too much sand in my shoes to leave". She is already missed.
