Charles K. “Chuck” Walters, 73, of Duluth, died Monday April 1, 2019 in St. Luke’s Hospice. He was born on May 12, 1945 in McGrath, MN to George P. and Sophie M. Walters, and grew up near McGrath. After graduating from McGrath High School Charles enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving a four-year enlistment. He graduated from UMD in 1972. Charlie worked at Forest Hill Cemetery from 1970 until 2007, serving as Superintendent from 1984 until his retirement. He was an active member of Pilgrim Congregational UCC. His family gratefully thanks Dr. Ulland at Mt. Royal Clinic, St. Luke’s Home Health Care, St. Luke’s Hospice Care, and all the nurses and staff at St. Luke’s.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, brother John nephews John, Craig, and Chad, and a sister-in-law Mary.
Charles is survived by his wife Lydia Jean (Livingston) Walters whom he married in 1970, son Daniel Paul, brother Gerald (Phyllis) and family, sister Sandra (DeWit) Brown and family, in-laws Frank, Tom (Katherine) Anthony (Amelie), Martha (Don) and their families, and many who’s lives he touched.
Visitation will be held on Saturday April 6, 2019 from 1:00PM until the 2:00PM Funeral Service in Pilgrim Congregational Church UCC. 2310 E. 4th St. Duluth, MN 55812. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Military Honors will be Accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home. 600 E. 2nd St. Duluth, MN 55805. 218-727-3555.
