Charlotte Ann "Char" (Bouchard) Henderson, age 85, of Duluth, died Monday, September 22, 2014, surrounded by her family. Char was born September 21, 1929 in Chicago, IL to Thomas and Muriel (MacDonald) Bouchard and they moved to Duluth when Char was a child. She married William "Bill" Henderson in Duluth on March 4, 1952. She was very active in St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She sang in and was a former director of its choir and was a member of the OK Club. She hosted bible studies in her home and had a passion for quilting in which she made one for each of her children and grandchildren which she won many awards including 2 first places. She also enjoyed camping and traveling. Char and Bill were long time winter residents of Yuma, AZ where she was also in the church choir. Char was very gracious and inspired her family and others by the way she led her faith filled life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Muriel; her first husband John A. Mattson who was killed in the Korean War; father in law and mother in law, John and Adele Henderson; and her brothers, Richard Bouchard and Fr. Thomas Bouchard, brother in law and sister in law, Jim and Kay Fritz; brother in law, Richard Bradley; and son in law, Jerry Stariha.
Char is survived by Bill, her husband of 62 years; cherished mother of Mike (Linda) Henderson of Duluth, Gaye Stariha of Superior, Jack (Gerri) Henderson of Duluth, Pam (Pete) Haas of Oakdale, Ann (Mike) Amlin of Proctor and Mary Beth (Rob) Zust of Apple Valley: grandchildren, Scott Henderson, Mark Henderson, Julie (Jarrod) Walker, Sarah Stariha, Lindsey (Shawn) Aubol, Aaron Henderson, Lauren Henderson, Matthew Haas, Katie Haas, Jenny (Steve) Johnson and Scotty (Julie) Anderson; great grandchildren, Dylan, Alexis, Haley, Elyse and Hope; sister, Joan Bradley of Duluth, sister in law, Leah Bouchard of Estero, FL.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke's Hospice and the second floor staff at Viewcrest Health Center for their kindness and compassion to Char and her family.
Visitation will be Friday, September 26, 2014 beginning at 5pm, continuing until the 7pm Rosary at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 2410 Morris Thomas Rd., Duluth, and one hour prior to the 11am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, 727-3555.
