Cheryl Walsh, 76, of Duluth, passed away July 4, 2021, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Superior, WI.
Cheryl was born in 1945 to Velma and Stanley. She attended and graduated from Southeast High School. She married Tim Walsh in 1963 in Kansas City, MO and was married for 50 years, before Tim passed away.
Later on, she and her dearest love, Roger, enjoyed many trips traveling throughout North America, both moteling and in their small RV. Together they also raised their dog, Maggie, who would sit with Cheryl nearly daylong, providing comfort through her final weeks. Roger was devoted to Cheryl and lovingly provided her in-home care during her final year and a half of life.
Cheryl lived a life of caring and service. She was devoted to her two boys and tirelessly supported her husband’s career and business over many years.
She went on to fulfill her dream of attending college, and later work as a chaplain for Peace Church in Duluth, visiting members who were no longer able to attend services. Her spiritual work stretched over 20 years, serving older adults in long-term care facilities, developing workshops and facilitating small groups. Cheryl was truly born for this work, bringing with her an unmatched kindness and presence.
Cheryl adored animals, caring for many family dogs and other creatures over her lifetime. She loved to spend time with her family, grandchildren, and close friends.
Cheryl is survived by her life partner, Roger; her sons, Brad (Katie) and Jake (Meg); grandchildren, Ayla, Loren, and Elizabeth; sister, Evonne; brother-in-law, Steve (Mary); and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Essentia St. Mary’s Hospice for their wonderful support and care.
