Christine Mary Porter, 75, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, in Duluth.
She was born October 3, 1938 in International Falls, MN to Mildred and Thomas Savard.
Christine graduated from International Falls High School in 1957. She received a bachelor's degree in Nursing from the College of Saint Scholastica in 1961. After college she worked for several hospitals, the Duluth EPA laboratory and Lakeshore Lutheran Home.
She married James "Mike" Porter in St. Thomas Aquinas Church in International Falls, MN on December 31, 1960.
Christine was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed reading and traveling. She was a gourmet chef and would often collect cookbooks and recipes from her travels.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mike and parents Thomas and Mildred Savard.
Christine is survived by her daughter Mary (Bill) Solem of Rochester, MN, and their children Justin, Michael, and Andrew Solem; sons Thomas (Marcy) Porter of Barnum, MN and their children, Ian and Craig Porter and Nicole Chicos; James (Rebekah) Porter of Berkeley, CA, and their children Claudia, Samuel, and Oliver Porter; Timothy Porter of Duluth, MN; sister Susan Savard and Joel Hase of International Falls and brother Michael and Judy Savard of Phoenix, AZ; two great grandchildren; and many, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be 10AM on Tuesday, February, 4, 2014, until the start of the service at 11AM, at the Dougherty Funeral Home; Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Duluth. Arrangement by Dougherty Funeral Home 600 E 2nd Street Duluth MN, 55805. 218-727-3555
