Claire Joyce Beaudette (b. 19 Jan. 1928, d. 25 Sep. 2022), daughter of Walter and Elsie Johnson, passed peacefully with her family by her side at Edgewood Vista in Duluth, MN.
Claire was a life-long resident of Duluth. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald J. Beaudette, in 1947. Claire and Don took great pride in their hometown and in the family they raised here.
Claire loved bringing her family together around food, and she was a keen baker, a talented cook, and a gracious hostess. Her caramel rolls and mock chicken legs remain legendary amongst all who have had the pleasure of trying them.
In her later years, Claire found friendship and community with her peers at the Miller Hill Mall Food Court. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends at Friday night fish fries and karaoke at the VFW.
Claire was preceded in death by her husband Don, her son Doug, her daughter Yvonne and her brother Merlin Johnson. Her memory will be kept alive by her son David and his wife Bev and Claire’s 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family thanks the staff and caregivers at Edgewood for the professional and supportive care they provided to Claire in her final months.
A Time of Sharing will be held at Dougherty Funeral Home at 600 E. 2nd St., Duluth, MN 55805, from 10AM until Noon on Monday October 3, 2022. Burial will be in Oneota Cemetery.
Claire was a lover of dogs, especially Bob, Blanche, and Tia. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Animal Allies Humane Society of Duluth 4006 Airport Rd., Duluth, MN 55811 in Claire’s name.
