Claudia Mae Thoreson, 70 of Duluth died Friday, February 16, 2018 in her home. Claudia was born January 28, 1948 in Duluth to Orland and Evelyn Tangen. She was a graduate of Duluth Central and attended UMD. While at UMD, Claudia met Jim Thoreson and they were married in 1969 at First Lutheran Church in Duluth. She began working at First National Bank, which became Wells Fargo, retiring in 2012 as a Mortgage Loan officer. She attended Salem Lutheran Church and was a former member of Corvette’s North; she enjoyed mixed doubles bowling, fishing, boating, four wheeling, spending time at the cabin on Half Moon Lake, but most of all, spending time with her family. One of Claudia’s favorite saying was, “As we get older, I really believe in the old saying, Life’s short – we have to live, laugh and enjoy every day!”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orland and Evelyn.
Claudia is survived by her husband, Jim; son, Brian (Traci) Thoreson and their children, Abbi, Tyler and Trevor; daughter, Shelley (Joe) Scott and their children, Lauren and Johnny’ siblings, Gary (Teri) Tangen and Cindy Seguin; several nieces, nephews, cousins, fiends and her faithful companion, “Molly Mae”.
Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5-7pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Thursday from 10am to the 11am services at First Lutheran Church, 1100 E Superior St. Duluth. Burial at Oneota Cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral home, 600 E 2 nd St. Duluth, MN (218) 727-3555.
