Clifford Simonson

Clifford Earl Simonson, age 87, of Duluth, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 28, 2016 at St. Lukes Hospital.  He was born in Duluth April 18, 1929 to Laura Helen (Paulson) and Sverre Simonson.  Cliff was a graduate of Duluth Central High School.  He was an Army veteran serving in Germany.  Cliff married Beatrice M. Forsberg in Duluth on September 11, 1954.  He worked as an optician at Benson Optical.  Cliff attended Mount of Olives Baptist Church.  He enjoyed reading, camping, hunting, fishing and time spent at the cabin.  In his later years he enjoyed woodworking and especially gifting those things he made.  He was extremely proud of his Norwegian heritage.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cliff is survived by his wife Bea; his children:  Janice (Alan) Ihrke of Duluth, Steven (Carol) Simonson of Troy, MT, and Erik (Holly) Simonson of Duluth; three grandchildren:  Leah Erickson, Jenna and Megan Simonson; his brother Gordy (Audrey) Simonson of Duluth; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 1 PM Monday, December 5, 2016 at Mount of Olives Baptist Church, 1500 Swan Lake Rd., Duluth, with military honors accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard.
