Clyde Albert Prudhomme, Jr., 87, of Hermantown, died suddenly with family by his side on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 in Duluth. He was born Dec. 13, 1925 in Duluth to Clyde and Tess (Rush) Prudhomme, Sr. Following high school he was drafted and served in the US Navy during both WWII on an attack cargo ship and in Korea on a destroyer.
Clyde returned to the states and was employed at Western Electric for 35 years retiring as a supervisor in 1983. He was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church. Once retired he traveled south during the winter months in his motor home with his first wife, Irene and then with his current wife, Carol, making very good friends along the way. Clyde loved to travel even if just a drive to the Range. His biggest joy was family gatherings at Fish Lake. Clyde was a devoted husband and father that cherished his family and enjoyed his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Irene of 47 years; his children; Linda, Donald, Kathy, Richard and Mary.
Survivors include his wife, Carol and her children; his children, Rene (Eric) Cepada of Duluth; Paula (Dick) Greenlee of Gettysburg, PA; Jill (Pat) Hinks of Duluth; Kim (Stan) Sarnowski of Thunder Bay, ON; Chris (Janice) Prudhomme of San Francisco, CA; John (Shahnaz) Prudhomme of Lake Oswego, OR and Pat (Gemma) Prudhomme of San Diego, CA; 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Military honors accorded by the Duluth Combine Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013 in the Dougherty Funeral Home Chapel and will continue Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Funeral Service in the Chapel.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or the Special Olympics in his name.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Duluth.
