Clyde D. Winkler, age 98, formerly of St. Anne's Residence, Duluth passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012 at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center, Duluth.

Clyde was born February 6, 1914, in Duluth, Minnesota, the son of Albert and Clara (Tangent) Winkler. He became an Eagle Scout, graduated from Central High School in 1933, and attended trade school. He worked as a welder for many crafts, working on construction of the Blatnik Bridge, the Port Terminal, and nearly every Taconite Company on the Iron Range and North Shore. Clyde also taught welding at trade school for several years, and ran a fabrication business for many years. He also worked in many different crafts for the DM & IR Railway, retiring in 1979 after 28 years of service.

He married Mary Pogorelec; together they raised two children, David and Richard. He and Mary (Mitz) loved to travel our West, and did so until his wife's illness. Clyde spent a lot of time caring for his wife during her illness.

He was a member of St. Anthony's and St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Churches.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Clara, his brother, Waldemare (Wink) and sister Alberta (June), his wife Mary (Mitz), and his son David in 2005.

He is survived by his son Richard (Dick) and his wife Diane, of Duluth and four grandchildren.

Family members wish to express deepest appreciation to the staff and residents of St. Ann's Residence and Chris Jensen, who made the years of his life after his wife's passing fun, interesting, and very social.

Visitation: 1 pm, Wednesday, October 31, 2012 until the 2 pm Mass of Christian Burial at St. John's Catholic Church, 3 West Chisholm Street, Duluth. Burial at Forest Hill Cemetery, Duluth. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home (218) 727-3555.
