Constance N. “Connie” Hedtke
July 4, 1924-June 24, 2017
Connie N. (Nickoloff) Hedtke, age 92, of Duluth and Hibbing passed away in Duluth.
Born on the 4th of July, 1924 in Hibbing, MN she was the daughter of C.A. (Nick) and Sylva Nickoloff. She graduated from Hibbing High School in 1942 and went on to attend Wellesley College, Middlebury language camp, Lawrence/Milwaukee Downer, and the University of Minnesota, graduating from the U of M with a degree in Spanish.
In 1948 she married Harlan D. (Buzz) Hedtke and settled in Hibbing. Connie was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Robert S. Nickoloff (Anne.)
She is survived by her sons Dale (Amy Brooks), Peter (Alla), and John (Sally), and granddaughters Lacey (Paul), and Christianne (Jeremy), Bella, Nikki, Laurel; and grandson Nickolas.
Connie was passionate supporter of Democratic Party politics, as well as her community. She was active in the Presbyterian churches of Hibbing and Duluth, Delta Gamma sorority, Cub Scouts, AAUW, League of Women Voters, Planned Parenthood, Duluth’s Women’s Club, PEO, and was a docent at Glensheen Mansion. She enjoyed spending time at her family’s Dewey Lake cabin with her family. She also taught Spanish at St. Leo’s school and Hibbing Community College.
A celebration of life will be held in August with a time and date to be announced.
Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
