Corinne Carlson

Corinne Ruby Carlson 74, of Duluth, died August 6, 2014. Corinne was born November 3, 1939 to Sigrid and Herbert Anderson.

Cor graduated from Central High School, and then from UMD with a degree in Teaching. She then went on to marry the love of her life Dave, on June 16, 1967. Cor was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, past president of Duluth Blue Line Club Axillary, and Arrowhead Home Economics; Women's Axillary Elks Club 133, Delta Gama Kappa, UMD Bulldogs Club, and the Women's Certificate Duluth Power Squadron, Ranking AP (Advanced Pilot).

After 47 years in the Power Squadron Cor was not afraid to take the wheel of the boat and loved to take trips. Even with limited cooking space, she could turn out a fabulous meals in the galley. A pizza trip to Houghton, MI lasted 11 days. She attended many Power Squadron events and helped with meals and fundraising.

Cor taught Home Economics for decades at Morgan Park School and was much loved and left her mark on her students and fellow teachers. Cor loved teaching and her students both. At home she decorated, cooked, and sewed beautiful outfits and created original gifts.

Cor was a caring and devoted daughter, wife, and friend; who could be counted on for her sincerity and loyalty. If you met her, you felt as if you knew her. You would never see her without a smile, even right to the end. Her sparking blue eyes won her a baby contest at the age of 3.

Many people enjoyed her warm hospitality and she was famous for her chocolate chip cookies, especially loved by the UMD Bulldog Athletes. Cor attended UMD Bulldog Hockey for 47 seasons as her number one interest.

Cor loved life and everyone around her, she will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her, parents; and brothers, Richard A. Anderson, and Lauren Anderson.

Cor is survived by, her loving husband Dave; brothers, Herbert (Marianne) Anderson of Greer, SC, Jerry (Mary Jean) Anderson of Minneapolis, MN; sister, Janice (Douglas) Borgan of Redwing, MN; and numerous, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Memorials preferred to UMD Hockey Scholarship Fund or the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.

Visitation will be from 4-6PM, Sunday, August 10, 2014, in the Dougherty Funeral Home, service will be Monday starting at 11AM with a visitation one hour prior, in the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1325 N 45th Ave E, Duluth, MN 55804.
