Dale Davey

Dale Duane Davey, 78, of Duluth died Wed, Oct. 20, 2021, in his home with his family by his side, after a short battle with cancer.

Dale was born in Duluth on January 6, 1943 to Robert F and Dorothy (Adney) Davey. He married the love of his life, Barbara Clifford on March 16, 1963.

Dale worked for Diamond Tool until its closing and owned and operated Davey and Son’s Lawn & Landscaping.

Dale loved being a family man, especially a Grandpa.  He was “Papa” to everyone.  He was his grandchildren’s biggest fan— just ask his lifelong buddies from his Wednesday morning coffee club.  Dale found great joy in visiting with family and friends, laughing all the way through his stories— the same ones we’ve all heard multiple times.  The story was secondary, the laughing was priceless.  Some of his other favorite hobbies were LP record collecting, baseball card collecting and his lawn.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Bob and Rick; son John and granddaughter Kacey.

Dale is survived by his dog Buddy and wife Barb; daughter Kelly (Brad) Emanuel and family, Erin “E” (Steven) and Beau Popowitz, Katyanna “Molly McGee”, Nick “Jabroni”(Hannah Raj “Blondie”); son Joe (Jen) Davey and family, Jess “Rufie”(Mike Grammer) and Nevaeh, Matt “Mattchu”, Scott “Scotty Boy”(Stephanie Oliver) and Ashton; son Jeremy; John’s son Darrell “Peewee”(Emily), Quinn and Avery; sister Kay (Rod) Anderson, brother Rocky (Kathy) Davey; sisters-in-law Mary Fust, Arlene Nelson and Judy Randall; his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

We wish this “Davey Goodbye” could’ve been a bit longer.

Visitation:  Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, from 5-7pm at the Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2nd St, Duluth, MN and Friday, Oct. 29, 2021 from 10am until the 11am funeral service.

Note:  Due to construction, follow E. 4th St. turn down 7th Ave. E. take right to funeral home on E. 2nd St.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Duluth MN.
