Dale Erickson passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Cloquet, Mn on January 24, 1938 to Glen and Alice (Phipps) Erickson. He grew up and attended schools in Cloquet and joined the U. S. Army in 1955, was honorably discharged in 1957, and retired after 20 years of active army reserve duty. He also worked for Conwed for over 20 years. He was a previous member of the Fatherless Boys Organization of Cloquet, the BMW Motorcycle Assoc, and a current member of the Duluth Radio Control Club.
Dale loved roller skating, camping, music, airplanes, World War II history, travelling, talking to people, including all strangers, and most of all riding his motorcycle. He was a fun loving person who left us with many "Dale" stories and memories.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, brother Stuart, aunt Doris Phipps, and infant daughter Heidi. Dale is survived by his son Craig (Asmeeta), grandchildren Sierra and Glen all of Rochester, Mn., sister-in-law Gladys, nephews Brian, Mark, and Scott Erickson all of Iowa. Also survived by his best friend and companion of thirty-three years, Yvonne Patterson, and her family, Carmen (Terry) Delaney, Fargo, ND, Brian (Diana), Darrell (Val), Gregg (Dayle) Patterson, Duluth, Mn, and Bruce Patterson, Puyallup, Wa, their families, and former wife, Sandra Blair.
The family wishes to thank Dr. J Knuths and the medical staff at St. Luke's who took care of Dale.
Visitation: Thursday, Oct 3rd, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. memorial service Friday, October 4th in Dougherty Funeral Home.
