David Eric Furo, 65, of Duluth passed away Nov. 3, 2915 among family members after a long, brave battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born Sept. 1, 1950 to Gordon and Virginia Furo.
David was a lifelong resident of Duluth and a 1968 graduate of East High School.
In 1969 David began working at Minnesota Surplus Store with his twin brother Peter. By 1971 he started buying into the business and became a full partner/owner in 1984 until his retirement in 2012. From 1975 he managed the business West End location and was a past president of West End Business Association.
David was always in the woods from an early age influenced by his grandparents and parents.
His hobbies and interests were fly-tying, woodcarving, fishing, hunting, kayaking, canoeing, metal detecting, artifact hunting, antique collecting, playing competitive horse-shoes with his parents, spending time at the Boulder lake family cabin and researching all subjects pertaining to local history. He, his brothers and some cronies were always on a fishing trip or on an exploring trip. His back yard was a wildlife sanctuary.
David was preceded in death by his mother and father.
He is survived by his fiancAC.e Kathy "Kitty" Modeen; brothers Larry (Leslie), Peter, and Mark (Susan); nieces and nephews Erik, Erin, Michael, Todd, Honna, Cassy, Jesse, Joby, Erica, Grayson, Alaena, Harper, Reese, Olivia and Henry.
Visitation will be 11am until the 12 noon service, Wednesday, November 11, 2015, in the Dougherty Funeral Home.
