David Ostazeski Sr.

January 23, 1929 — September 11, 2017

DAVID F. OSTAZESKI Sr. died Monday, September 11, 2017 at his home, with his family by his side.  David was born to Stanley and Annette Ostazeski on 1-23-29 in Superior, Wisconsin, David F. Ostazeski Sr. graduated from Superior East High School in 1946. At 17 years of age he joined the Coast Guard serving for three years. He went to Duluth Business University and then worked as a rate clerk in Duluth and California. He met Georgia C. Grubb and married her while in the Coast Guard. David joined the Fire Department, working for 27 years, retiring and moving to Chub Lake where he built a beautiful retirement home. Hobbies over the years included wine making, hunting, woodworking, golf and singing praise songs at Carlton’s nursing home.  After 18 years at Chub Lake they moved back to Duluth, spending 13 years in a lovely town home where they enjoyed family and friends. David and Georgia were married for 66 years. He is survived by Georgia and seven children: daughters Susan Raimo, Mary (Tim) Johnson, Carol (Dale) Eklund, and sons David Ostazeski Jr., Paul (Kathy) Ostazeski, Mark (Mary) Ostazeski, and Joseph Ostazeski, 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Stanley and Robert Ostazeski and sister, Gloria Murphy as well as numerous nieces and Nephews.

Visitation will be 5-7PM, with Prayers at 6:30PM, Thursday, September 14, 2017, in the Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2nd Street, Duluth, MN 55805, visitation will continue, 10AM until the Mass of Christian Burial 11AM, Friday, September 15, 2017, in St Lawrence Church, 2410 Morris Thomas Rd, Duluth, MN 55811.
