David Eugene Sipila

David Sipila passed away September 14, 2024 at the age of 78 surrounded by his loving family. David was born on April 19, 1946 to Eugene & Doris Sipila. He graduated from Duluth East High School and attended Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, MN. He married his loving wife of 58 years, Marlene Malzac on Oct. 1, 1966. He was a devoted husband and father to Marlene and their 3 daughters.

David was a heavy equipment mechanic his whole career. He was a jack of all trades and could fix just about anything. He loved to spend his time taking walks, reading, puttering around the home & garage, spending time with family. Especially teaching his grandchildren about his many interests.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene & Doris Sipila; and sister, Kathy Langley. He is survived by wife, Marlene; brother, Walter Sipila; children, Julie (Robert) Lambert, Deborah (John) Specht, Katri Sipila; grandchildren, Brenda, Stephen, Allison, Zil, Rachel, Peter, Juniper, Nathan, Calliope, Jaz, Lief, Leo, Sage, and Marissa; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 20th at 12noon with a visitation beginning at 11:00 am in Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E Second Street, Duluth, MN 55805.
