Debbie Bassett

Debbie M. Bassett, 52 of W Arrowhead Rd. died Monday, July 6, 2015 at Essentia St. Mary's after a long battle with cancer. Debbie was born December 4, 1962 in Grand Rapids to Robert and Opal Derfler. She worked for several years at Transition Plus, TRI, Fingerhut and Arrowhead Mortgage. Debbie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crosswords, motorcycling and spending time with her family, especially Keith and her grandchildren and her little dog Nina and her cat Loki and her big dog Bosley.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jesi Svercl.
Debbie is survived by her partner Keith Pfuhl; children, Jeremiah (Stephanie) Svercl and Katelyn (Nicholas) Wight; grandchildren, Brad, Isaiah, Grace, Spencer, Shane, Destiny, Kenzie, Nickolas and Emmett Josef; father, Bob (Grace) Derfler; mother, Opal Asback; siblings, Patti Apitz, Tom (Kelly) Derfler, Becky (Tom) Graves; grandmother, Wilma Derfler; her companions, "Nina" , "Loki" , and "Bosley" and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation: 5 - 7 PM Thursday, July 9th, 2015 at Dougherty Funeral Home where visitation continues on Friday from 10AM until the 11AM funeral service. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
