Debra Anne Eckert, 57, of Duluth, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017 in St. Luke’s Hospital. She was born December 19, 1959 in Duluth to Mary Ann and Carl Lucas. Debra was a graduate of Denfeld High School and received her B.S. degree in Speech Communication in Radio and Television from Southwest State University in 1982. Debra worked at KQDS radio using the name Debra Lee Evans. Debra married Dalen Eckert in 1996 and lived in Auburn, IN. She worked in communication for DeKalb hospital in Auburn. Debra returned to Duluth in 2006. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Lucas. Debra is survived by her mother, Mary Ann Lucas Houx; step father, Oliver Houx; brothers, Michael (Robin) Lucas of Remer, MN and Kenneth (Barbara) Lucas of Purcellville, VA; and additional aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a great-niece. In addition, she has had a special connection with her family at Peace of Mind of Duluth. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you for the love and care that was shared with Debra by her Peace of Mind family. A special thank you for the medical care she has received from Dr. Sandy Popham, Dr. Rachel Nelson of the Rudie Clinic, and the medical staff at St. Luke’s Hospital, especially the cardiac unit. A family memorial service will be held on December 9, 2017 at First United Methodist Church (Coppertop), 230 E Skyline Pkwy, Duluth, MN 55811. Burial will be in the summer.
