Debra Suzanne Curtis, 53 of Duluth, gained her angel wings Thursday, June 30, 2016 with her family by her side at St. Luke’s Hospital after a short courageous battle with Cancer. Debbie was born January 20, 1963 in Duluth to Daniel and Suzanne Sobczak. She graduated from Proctor High School and then she received an Associate degree in Law Enforcement from Fond Du Lac College. Debbie proudly worked 12 years as a Correction Officer for Carlton County.
Debbie had a beautiful smile, a contagious laugh, and a huge heart for everyone. She worked extremely hard while raising 4 children. Her personality was one of a kind and she loved to have fun. She enjoyed camping, collecting agates and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Debbie is survived by her children, Joe (Heidi) Curtis, Nikki (Nate) Kovach, Jennifer (Corey) Lonetto and Sarah (Blake) Curtis; her mother, Sue Sobczak; siblings, Laurie (Brady) Lyons, Joann (Kevin) VanVickle, Dave (Jessie) Sobczak and DJ (Lisa) Sobczak; 14 grandchildren and 4 nana babies; nieces April and Sammy Sobczak and many more nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Sobczak; sister, Kathy Sobczak and her niece, Ashley Sobczak.
The family would like to give a special thanks the all the nurses on 2W and Hospice staff at St. Luke’s for their loving care of Debbie.
Visitation will be Wednesday July 13th from 5-7pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home, where visitation will continue Thursday from 1pm to the 2pm services. Burial at Oneota Cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2nd St. Duluth, (218) 727-3555.
