Delima Sauve Mahoney, Kenwood Avenue, formerly of East Anoka Street, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012. Delima was born in Harvard, Illinois to Olga and Harvey Sauve on November 4, 1915. She lived in Hayward, Wisconsin until the age of 12 when she moved to Duluth. Delima graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1933. She worked in Women's Fashion Specialty Shops as a young woman. She was a member of First Lutheran Church for 84 years and volunteered many hours at the Builder's Inn CafAC. during the construction of the present church building. She was a member of the Dorcas Circle, and enjoyed many years of Community Bible Study. Delima's family and friends were always cared for by Delima's love and generosity. She was an inspiration.
Delima is survived by her husband of 71 years, John; daughter Ann (Richard Dolezal) Mahoney; grandchildren Shannon (Christopher) Lindsay, Gretchen Karstens, Ryan McGivern and Jennie (Steven) Hilleren; as well as great-grandchildren Paige, Mary Catherine and Henry; sister-in-law Catherine McKenna; and many nieces and nephews.
We, as family, wish to thank the staff of Westwood Assisted Living, Benedictine Health Center, BHC Adult Day Care, and St. Mary's Hospice for their loving care of Delima.
Visitation: 5-7pm, with a Prayer Service at 7pm, on Monday, December 17th. at Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation continues on Tuesday, December 18th. from 10 am until the 11am funeral service at First Lutheran Church, Duluth. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church for world hunger. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. Second St., Duluth, 727-3555.
