Delores "Dee" Slotness

Delores “Dee” Slotness, 91, passed away peacefully on September 22nd, 2024, at Waverly Gardens in North Oaks, MN.

Born August 12th, 1933, in Hibbing, MN to Wallace and Mae (Laine) Gustafson, Dee graduated from Hibbing High School. Upon finishing high school, she enrolled in nursing school at St. Luke’s School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1954.

On May 4th, 1963, Dee married Arvid Slotness. They had two daughters, Kari and Lynn, and raised them in the Duluth area. Delores worked as an RN at St. Luke’s Hospital, Lake Haven Manor, and Northwoods Children’s Services until retiring in 1998.

Dee was an active member at First Lutheran Church in Duluth. In her younger years, she enjoyed skiing, camping, hiking, biking, golfing, and traveling. Dee and Arvid lived in Florida part time and enjoyed being with family and spending time with grandkids.

Dee is preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband, Arvid.

She is survived by daughters, Kari (Chris) Torvi of St. Paul, MN and Lynn (Eric) Odegard of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren, Hanna and Bjorn Torvi, and EJ, Kylie, Rogan, and Sutton Odegard; and her sister, Darlene Nelson of Lake Placid, FL.

Visitation will take place at 10 am followed by a memorial service at 11 am at First Lutheran Church 1100 E. Superior St. Duluth, MN 55802 on Friday, November 8th, 2024, Interment to follow at Park Hill Cemetery. Please visit www.dfhduluth.com to sign the online guestbook.
