Dennis Howard Center passed away peacefully in his sleep at Benedictine Living Community in Duluth MN on October 19, 2024. Dennis was born on January 10, 1956, in Oakland CA and spent his early childhood moving to different Naval bases around the country – finally settling in Duluth MN for elementary and high school. As a young adult he moved to Arizona where he married Terry Gale in 1986, welcoming a stepson Mark Gale and later a son, Charles Center in 1988. Dennis started his own concrete construction company in the early 90’s and worked on many large-scale civil projects all over the state of Arizona. In 2013, desiring change and to escape the heat he moved back to Duluth MN during one of the worst winters on record. Dennis contributed to more civil works around Duluth until finally deciding to retire and volunteer his time in 2018. Dennis had always been an avid outdoorsman and craftsman. In retirement he volunteered for the USFS and local communities. He enjoyed exploring Duluth’s beautiful wilderness, woodworking with his own felled maples, and driving with no place to go. Every day was an adventure.
Dennis is survived by his son, Charles (Katie) Center of OR, stepson, Mark Gale, of AZ, brother, Jim (Deb) Center of New Zealand, sisters Janet Center of CO, Jackie (Mike) Jensen of MN, Nancy (James) Stensgard of MN, former wife, Terry Gale of AZ, many cousins, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by both his parents, Jack and Faye Center.
