Koidahl, Dolores 'Dolly'

87, died June 23, 2013 in Duluth. She was born in Des Plaines, IL to Olga (Agren) and Alfred Lidberg on October 30, 1925. Dolly is survived by a brother, Alfred Lidberg Jr. of Phoenix AZ; sister-in-law Arlysse Nelson of Cary IL; brother and sister-in-law Arlynn and Audrey Koidahl of Cary, IL; son Scott (Leslie), grandsons Jordan, Corey (Leigh), Cole; son Clifford; daughter Carole (Cotruvo), granddaughter Brecca (Cotruvo), great-granddaughter Tesla (Cotruvo); and many nieces and nephews, plus a new great-grandchild in September. Dolly attended Maine West High School, Des Plaines, IL. She met Virgil Koidahl when he worked at a defense contractor in Chicago. They married in Eveleth, MN in 1945. Virgil's career as a corporate pilot took them to Tulsa OK, Independence KS, Minneapolis, and Duluth in 1957. Dolly loved travel, visiting almost all US states, Mexico, Canada, Spain, Greece, Turkey, France, Denmark, Sweden (her mother Olga's birthplace), Finland, and Russia. She was in Berlin in 1989 when the Wall fell. Dolly was known for her lifelong volunteer work for a long list of organizations, through which she met and appreciated many wonderful people. She received the 2009 South St. Louis County Outstanding Senior Citizen award. Dolly was a 50-year UMD hockey season ticket holder and a booster of women's hockey. Dolly believed in lifelong learning, and took continuing education classes into her 70s. Dolly was a member of a number of Duluth Bridge and Duplicate clubs where she formed many cherished friendships. Dolly's family thanks the staff at St. Ann's Residence and St. Mary's Hospice, Duluth, for their kind and attentive care.
A memorial service for Dolly Koidahl will be held on Saturday, July 13, at 11:00 a.m., at Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. 2nd Street, Duluth. Internment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, at a later date.
