Dolores Krebs

Dolores F. Krebs, age 93, of Duluth, passed away from natural causes on Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Ecumen Lakeshore, Shores Memory Care facility. Dolores Flora Krebs was born February 22, 1920 in Duluth, the daughter of Ralph and Florence Snider. She was united in marriage to two wonderful men.
Dolores traveled to California during World War II to marry Reino Hartikka of Duluth, on May 22, 1943, while he was on active duty in the United States Army. He preceded her in death May 31, 1978. They were married for 35 blissful years. They had one son.
In 1981 Dolores married Walter O'Neil Krebs, a widower from Chicago, Illinois, in Duluth. Walter preceded her in death on July 8, 2010. They were married for 29 wonderful years. Walter was survived by Dolores and five children from his first marriage, Tony, Madeline, Pamela, John, and Elizabeth.
Dolores graduated from Morgan Park High School and worked at United States Steel during World War II. After the war she went into the banking industry, working at the Park State Bank, and later the North Shore State Bank, in Lakeside. She retired from banking as the first women Vice President of a bank in Minnesota in 1981.
Mrs. Krebs was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church prior to moving to Chicago with Walter in 1981. They returned to Duluth in 2007 and attended services at Ecumen Lakeshore.
She is survived by her son and his spouse, Dale (Anne) Hartikka, of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri; sisters, Dorothy Smith of Minneapolis, Minn. and Joan Le Neau of Duluth; and her brother, Ralph Snider of Duluth.
Visitation: 5-7 pm, Monday, October 7, 2013 at Dougherty Funeral Home, with prayers. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 PM Tuesday, October 8th. at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, 1419 St. Benedict St., Duluth. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Benedict Catholic Church. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. Second St., Duluth, 727-3555.
