Domenica Erickson

Domenica Mary Erickson, 88, a longtime Duluth resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 22, 2017 in St. Luke’s Hospice surrounded by her family.  She was born in Ironwood, MI on December 12, 1928 to Angelo and Elisabeth Rota, and grew up in Montreal, WI. After high school, Mary moved to Duluth to attend St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing.  She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital as an RN, and retired from Chris Jensen Nursing Home as a Nursing Supervisor. Mary was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church and School. She enjoyed reading, flower gardening, and most of all cooking and entertaining friends and family.  Her family meant everything to her and she meant the world to them and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, an infant son James, brother John Rota, and her sister Christina Connell.

She is survived by her children Barbara (David) Richards of Bedford NH, Eileen (Chuck) Erickson of Tucson AZ, Mary (Paul) Johnson of Duluth, and John (Gloria) Erickson of Woodbury MN; her grandchildren Sarah (Brian) Duchemin, Christina (Brian) Eagen, Zachary Erickson, Willa Erickson, Elizabeth (Paul) Proepper, Leah (Mike) Fisher, Timothy Johnson, Kyle (Anne) Erickson, Dane (Kelsey) Erickson, and Evan (Charity) Erickson; her great-grandchildren Luke and Sienna Duchemin, Samuel Eagen, Wynter Nye, and Coulter Erickson, her sister Margaret Curley, sister in law Shirley Erickson and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday April 28, 2017 from 10AM until the 11AM Memorial Mass in Ecumen Lakeshore’s Elsing Chapel located on London Road in Duluth.
