Donal Moe

Donal Moe, 78, of Duluth, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in Diamond Willow Assisted Living with family by his side. He was born Jan. 2, 1934 in Tower City, N.D. to Harry and Irene Moe. He grew up in Fargo, N.D. He served in the U.S. Army in Washington state and Alaska and then was an officer in the National Guard. He graduated from the UND Pharmacy School in Grand Forks, ND. Donal started his career as a pharmacist first in Mora, Minn., continuing on to Alexandria, Minn., proceeding to Grand Marais, Minn. (having one son in each city) before purchasing his own store in Aurora, Minn. The family moved to Duluth in 1980 where he opened the Medicine Shoppe and was the owner/operator for 20 years until his retirement. Donal received numerous speaking awards during his 29 years as a member of Toastmasters of Duluth-Club No. 1523. He enjoyed weekends at the cabin with family and friends. Donal was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sharon. Donal is survived by three sons Daniel (Mitzi) of Williston, N.D., Jeffrey and Steven (Patricia), all of Duluth; four grandchildren Dustin of Washburn, N.D., Rachael of Greeley, Colo., Gwyneth and Ewan, both of Duluth; his sister, Joy OHearn of Fargo, N.D.; his brothers, Harry Moe of Lakeville, Minn.; Dale (Barb) Moe of Corsicana, Texas. GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 1 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012 until the 2 p.m. Memorial Service in the Dougherty Funeral Home Chapel. Military Honors Accorded by the Duluth Combined Honor Guard. Interment at Park Hill Cemetery, Duluth, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Duluth Clinic Foundation for Cancer Research.
