Donald L. Gelineau Sr, 94, longtime Lakeside resident, passed away Friday, August 2, 2019 at Diamond Willow Assisting Living in Cloquet. Don was born in Duluth on January 14, 1925 to George and Theodora Gelineau. Don graduated from Denfeld High School and served in the Air Force during World War II. He married Lois Strihalick in Duluth on May 22, 1948. Don was a supervisor for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company retiring after 34 years of service. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and active with the Knights of Columbus. Don enjoyed gardening, yard work, bicycling and watching the Minnesota Vikings with Michael and Tom. Don was a handyman and stayed very active in his later years. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George and Eugene; a sister, Florence Joyal; a son, Donald Jr and a son-in-law, Michael Konczak. Donald is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lois of Duluth; a daughter, Sharon Gelineau of Duluth; a sister, Joan Norton of Hibbing, MN; two grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Konczak of Duluth and Kimberly (Tom) Heinitz of Duluth; two great-grandchildren, Nore Ann Heinitz and Greyson Konczak. The family would like to thank the staff at Diamond Willow for the excellent care they provided. Visitation 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. 4901 East Superior St. Rev Fr William Fider officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Military Honors accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard. Memorials to St. Michael’s Catholic Church would be appreciated.
